Khoyesa is situated along the shore of the Liparii River and within Khivala’s Basin. Known to be difficult to approach from the North due to its mountainous border, the capital city has enjoyed the protection from would-be invaders - mostly because they are deterred by the harsh, rugged slopes and the long stretches of forest in between.
Of course, local legend holds that there are untold beasts lingering in those forests, grown fat and vicious feeding on traders and the convergence of leylines said to run through the very capital itself. No one, however, has taken the time nor energy to research or look into this matter. Instead, most count their blessings: both for the fertile soil, and its relatively protected nature.
Of course, the rugged slopes and the forests have severely hampered any further development northwards for Khoyesa. As such, the south of Khoyesa is where the farmlands and more suburban areas are. These are likely to be the first sights traders and travellers see as they approach the capital - along with the Grand Palace perched on one of its hills.
Khoyesa has a temperate oceanic climate, with yearly precipitations reaching the peaks highs of 68mm to 74mm during the summer. Its winters, however, are known to be dry and fairly harsh, sometimes plunging into sub-zero temperatures and forcing everyone and anyone to wrap up when they head out on the streets. Snow is relatively common, though less so compared to the further Northern regions of the Khivalon Empire.
